U19 World Cup 2024: The way ICC works to promote senior players, similarly, the board puts considerable effort into giving young players a separate identity at the global level. Among ICC’s efforts regarding youth, the pinnacle is the organization of the Under-19 World Cup. ICC hosts the U19 World Cup every two years, and it recently organized the event once again, which was held in South Africa.

The U19 World Cup 2024, organized by the ICC, was the 15th edition of the U19 World Cup, in which Australia’s Under-19 team defeated the Indian Under-19 team in the final match to claim the trophy for the fourth time. This World Cup saw many players showcasing remarkable performances, and some of these players will dominate the cricket world in the future.

The U19 World Cup 2024, held in South Africa, saw a total of 16 teams participating, with all teams making a concerted effort to claim the title. However, in the end, only four teams qualified for the semifinals, including the U19 teams of Australia, India, Pakistan, and South Africa. Ultimately, the Australia U19 team emerged victorious by defeating the Indian U19 team to claim the trophy for the fourth time.

During this tournament, players from both teams showcased outstanding performances. And not only these two teams, but almost all the young players from various teams have illuminated their names on the world stage with their performances. So, let’s learn about each of these young players one by one, who have proven through their performances that the future of cricket is going to be quite bright.

This U19 World Cup has impressed everyone from batsmen to bowlers, and some of these players will dominate cricket in the future. In terms of scoring the most runs in this World Cup, Indian captain Uday Saharan is at the top, having scored 397 runs at a remarkable average of 56.71 in 7 matches. Meanwhile, in terms of taking wickets, South Africa’s Kwena Maphaka leads, having taken a total of 21 wickets. He is the only bowler to have dismissed more than 20 batsmen in this tournament.

Apart from taking the most wickets and scoring runs, various players have excelled in different aspects as well.And combining all those players, ICC has announced the Team of the Tournament for the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius (SA) (wk) – South African U19 team’s Lhuan-dre Pretorius has scored 287 runs from his bat in 6 matches at an average of 57.4 in the u19 World Cup 2024, including 3 half-centuries. His highest score in this tournament was 76 runs, which he achieved against India in the semifinal match.

Harry Dixon (AUS) – Australia’s Harry Dixon has made quite an impression throughout this tournament with his batting, scoring a total of 309 runs in 7 matches at an average of 44.14, including 3 half-centuries. His highest score in the tournament was 89 runs, which he achieved against Zimbabwe.

Musheer Khan (IND) – If anyone from India has made the most impact in the U19 World 2024, it is Mushir Khan. In this tournament, he scored 360 runs in 7 matches at an average of 60, including 2 centuries and 1 half-century. His best score during this period was 131 runs, which he achieved against Nepal. Additionally, he also dismissed 7 batsmen with his bowling.

Hugh Weibgen (AUS) – Australian U19 team captain Hugh Weibgen not only led his team to victory with his superb captaincy but also made a significant impact with his batting. Sachin Dhas (IND) – Indian U19 team’s middle-order batsman Sachin Dhas played a crucial role in leading the team to victory with his batting throughout the World Cup. His innings of 96 runs against Africa in the semifinal is one of the best performances of the entire tournament. In the U19 World 2024, he scored 303 runs in 7 matches at an average of 60.6. During this period, he scored 1 century and 1 half-century, with a best score of 116.

Nathan Edward (WI) – West Indies U19 team’s Nathan Edward made the most impact in this tournament as an all-rounder. He scored a total of 101 runs and took 11 wickets in 5 matches. During this period, his highest score was 49* runs, while his best bowling figure was 3/28.

Saumy Pandey (IND) – After Kwena Maphaka, if any bowler has impressed the most in the U19 World Cup 2024, it is India’s Saumy Pandey. Pandey has taken a total of 18 wickets in the tournament, with his best bowling figure being 4/19.

Jamie Dunk (SCO) (12th Man) – Jamie Dunk from Scotland has been placed as the 12th man in the ICC-selected U19 World Cup 2024 team, owing to his exceptional performance. In this tournament, he has scored 263 runs in 4 matches, including 3 half-centuries.
