India’s Quest for WTC Title in Their Second Attempt
Background
India is aiming to clinch the World Test Championship (WTC) title in their second attempt, having lost to New Zealand in the final of the inaugural edition of the championship.
Ganguly’s Perspective on India’s Chances
Sourav Ganguly, former Indian captain and BCCI President, expressed his thoughts on India’s potential to win:
“If India has to chase 360, 370, then India will definitely be in the game. They have Virat Kohli, the best chaser in the world, leading the charge. Alongside him, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rishabh Pant are some of the class players in the lineup. With such a strong batting order and a resilient bowling attack featuring Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammed Shami, anything can happen in the last two days.”
Current WTC Standings and Scenario
As of now, India is placed second in the WTC standings with a good chance to qualify for the final. The team’s performance in the ongoing matches will be crucial in determining their position in the championship.
