In the U19 World Cup 2024, India’s Under-19 team played their first match under the captaincy of Uday Saharan against the Bangladesh team on January 20, 2024, in Bloemfontein. With an impressive victory in that match, the Indian team began their journey. Since then, consistently winning matches, Team India secured its place in the semi-finals. The Under-19 team of India, last Friday, secured their spot in the semi-finals by defeating Nepal’s Under-19 team with a significant margin of 132 runs.

India qualified for semi-finals by defeating Nepal

On Friday night, a match was played in Bloemfontein between the Under-19 cricket teams of India and Nepal in Group-1 of the Super-6 round of the U19 World Cup 2024. In this match, the Indian Under-19 cricket team secured a convincing victory with a significant margin of 132 runs. In the clash between India U19 team and Nepal U19 team, India won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 297 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. During this innings, captain Uday Saharan scored 100, and Sachin Das played an innings of 116 runs.

Despite aiming for the massive target of 297 runs, Nepal’s Under-19 team could only manage to score 165 runs, losing 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. As a result, India won the match with great ease. And after winning this match, now the next goal for the India U19 team will be to win the semifinal, which is scheduled to be played against South Africa.

India U19 team will face South Africa in the semi-final match

In the first semifinal match of the U19 World Cup 2024, the Indian U19 team will face the South African U19 team. This match will be played on Saturday, February 6, in Benoni, South Africa. Everyone is eagerly looking forward to this encounter, which promises to be a nail-biter, as both teams have delivered outstanding performances in this World Cup so far.

In the semifinals of the U19 World Cup 2024, besides the U19 teams of India and South Africa, the U19 teams of Pakistan and Australia have also secured their spots. The second semifinal match of this World Cup will feature the clash between the U19 teams of Pakistan and Australia, scheduled to be played on Thursday, February 8, in Benoni.

Whichever teams emerge victorious in these semifinal encounters will face each other in the final on Sunday, February 11, in Benoni. So, It remains to be seen which team ultimately claims the title of the U19 World Cup’s 15th edition. In the previous edition held in West Indies in 2021/22, India’s U19 team emerged victorious by defeating England’s U19 team.
