U19 World Cup 2024 Schedule: To enhance the enthusiasm for cricket among youth globally, ICC organizes the Under-19 World Cup every two years. The last edition was held in the West Indies in 2021/22, where India’s U19 team emerged victorious. Now, ICC is gearing up to host the 15th edition of the U19 World Cup, starting from January 19, 2024, with South Africa as the host country.

Initially, the 15th edition of the U19 World Cup, i.e., U19 World Cup 2024, was supposed to be hosted by Sri Lanka. However, due to certain reasons between the Sri Lanka board and ICC, it was shifted to South Africa. This marks South Africa’s third opportunity to host the U19 World Cup. Sixteen teams have qualified for the tournament, including both prominent and emerging cricketing nations.

List of all teams participating in the U19 World Cup 2024

India, England, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Bangladesh, Ireland, USA, West Indies, Scotland, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Namibia, New Zealand, and Nepal.

All participating teams in the U19 World Cup 2024 are divided into four groups. The top three teams from each group will qualify for the Super 6 round. The Super 6 round will have two groups, with six teams in each. The top three teams from Group A and D will qualify for Group 1, while those from Group B and C will qualify for Group 2. The top two teams from each Super 6 group will compete in the semifinals, leading to the final match.

Group B: England, South Africa, West Indies, Scotland
Group C: Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Namibia
Group D: Afghanistan, Pakistan, New Zealand, Nepal

The Opening Match of the U19 World Cup 2024

The opening match of the U19 World Cup 2024 will see Ireland’s U19 team facing off against the USA’s U19 team on January 19, 2024. This match will be held at the Bloemfontein Stadium. The tournament’s final match is scheduled for February 11, 2024, to be played in Benoni. Team India will play its first match against Bangladesh on January 20, 2024, also in Bloemfontein.

History of the U19 World Cup

The U19 World Cup started in 1988, with its second season played in 1998. So far, 14 editions have been played, with India’s U19 team winning the trophy the most times. The Indian U19 team has won the tournament in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022, which is significantly more than any other team. Moreover, Team India was the runner-up in 2016 and 2020.
