ICC gave information via press release

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a press release providing information on this matter. The ICC stated in the press release that Jasprit Bumrah has breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct, resulting in him receiving one demerit point. Additionally, the ICC mentioned that Bumrah has acknowledged his mistake and accepted the penalty imposed by Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees’ Richie Richardson. Therefore, there is no need for any further formal hearing.

Furthermore, the ICC has mentioned that this is the first such incident involving Bumrah in the past 24 months, which is why stricter action has not been taken against him. However, this serves as a significant warning for him. Continuing such behavior could pose difficulties for him in the future.

Ollie Pope’s performance in first match vs India

It is worth mentioning that Ollie Pope had scored only one run in the first innings against the Indian team. However, in the second innings, he unleashed his prowess, leading to a remarkable performance and ultimately securing the match for England. Pope scored 196 runs in the second innings against Team India, marking his best innings against India in his cricket career. Additionally, his innings of 196 runs also stands as his highest score on foreign soil.

Due to Ollie Pope’s outstanding batting, England made 420 runs in the second innings, and as a result, India had a challenging target of 231 runs. In terms of numbers, this score seemed quite achievable. However, England’s young spinner, Tom Hartley, took 7 wickets, securing a victory for England. Despite attempting to chase down the target of 231 runs, Team India could only manage to score 202 runs and were all out.

And now, it will be interesting to see how the Indian team performs in the second match. The second Test match of this series will be played at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
