Virat Kohli isn’t the most powerful striker of the cricket ball. He relies mostly on his timing and powerful wrists to hit those sumptuous boundaries from his bat.
Yet, he is currently the highest run-scorer in T20 internationals. In 117 T20Is played so far, he has managed to score 4037 runs and that too with a healthy strike rate of 138.15.
Besides score a truckload of runs, India’s run-machine has also got out cheaply on a number of occasions while trying to play aggressively. He has, in fact, got out for a naught on quite a few times in the shortest format by different bowlers.

- Fareed Ahmed
In the recent 3rd T20I between India and Afghanistan, Virat Kohli got out on the very first ball he played. Kohli mistimed a ball that was pitched at good length from Fareed Ahmed and it skied up in the air. Ibrahim Zadran took an easy catch near mid off to sent the Indian batter back to the dressing room.
2. Dilshan Madhushanka
Dilshan Madhushanka became a household name in world cricket following his outstanding performance in the 2023 World Cup. However, early glimpses of his bolwing brilliance was seen in the Asia Cup, which took place before that.
In the super four round of Asia Cup 2024, Dilshan Madhushanka bowled a dream spell of 3 for 24 agains India. He also sent Virat Kohli for naught in that game.
3. Adil Rashid
Adil Rashid too has sent Kohli for a duck in T20 internationals. Three years ago in a bilateral series between England and India, Adil Rashid sent Virat Kohli back to the pavilion without allowing him to open his account.
The India batter came out to bat at number three after KL Rahul lost his wicket. On the fifth ball he faced, Kohli handed a straightforward catch to Chris Jordan at mid off.
4. Peter Chase
Ireland’s pacer Peter Chase also has the record of dismissing Virat Kohli for a duck in T20 internationals. In a bilateral T20I played in 2018 against Ireland, Virat Kohli batted at number six position.
He came out to bat in the final over of the innings. In an attempt to the hit the ball for a six, he was caught by Stuart Thompson at the boundary line.
5. Jason Behrendorff
It is worth mentioning that Australian fast bowler, Jason Behrendorff was the first bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli for a duck in T20 internationals. In the second T20I of the three-match series against Australia in 2017, Virat Kohli got out on a two-ball duck.
India’s run-machine tried to flick a length ball but the ball flew up in the air off the inside edge of the bat. Behrendorff ran himself to cover the distance and took the catch.
