Despite a shaky start with the loss of three early wickets at just 33 runs, India recovered well, primarily through a magnificent partnership of 203 runs between Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja for the fourth wicket. Rohit Sharma showcased his brilliance with a stunning innings of 131 runs, while Jadeja contributed significantly with 112 runs.
The Indian team managed to post a formidable total of 445 runs in their first innings, concluding their innings in the second session of the second day. Besides Sharma and Jadeja, debutant Sarfaraz made a notable contribution of 62 runs, while Jurel added 46 runs. Ashwin chipped in with 26 runs, and even Jasprit Bumrah, coming in as the last batsman, displayed a commendable performance by scoring 26 runs.
the England bowling attack, Mark Wood led with an impressive performance, claiming 4 crucial wickets, while Tom Hartley supported the effort with one wicket. Rehan Ahmed contributed with 2 wickets, while Joe Root and Ederson each secured 1 wicket, collectively challenging the Indian batting lineup during their innings.
