During the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad danced their way to multiple records. One such achievement was becoming the fourth-fastest team to score 100 runs in an Indian Premier League match.

In this article, we list down top 4 fastest team hundreds in IPL history:

1) 6 overs – CSK vs PBKS, Mumbai: 2014 IPL Qualifier 2

In the second qualifier of the 2014 season, Kings XI Punjab batted first and posted a competitive total of 226 for the loss of six wickets. However, the competitiveness of the total was nearly overshadowed by Suresh Raina‘s remarkable innings.

Despite losing Faf du Plessis in just the second ball of the innings, Raina continued to score runs at a brisk pace. His explosive knock of 87 runs from just 25 deliveries propelled Chennai Super Kings to reach 100 runs within 6 overs, albeit losing six wickets in the process. However, despite Raina’s heroics, Chennai Super Kings ultimately fell short of the target by 24 runs due to a collapse in the middle overs.

2) 6 overs – KKR vs RCB, Bengaluru:  2017 IPL

In the 2017 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore had a nightmarish campaign, and this particular game was no exception for the side. Batting first on a changed surface during the season, RCB could only manage to muster 158 runs in their stipulated 20 overs.

However, the target proved neither tricky nor competitive as Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn unleashed a relentless onslaught on the RCB bowlers. They both scored at a brisk pace, accumulating a record-breaking 105 runs in the powerplay. The Kolkata-based franchise chased the target in just 15.1 overs.

2. 6.5 overs – CSK vs MI, Mumbai WS, 2015

In the 12th match of the 2015 campaign, two successful sides of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings clashed with each other, both eyeing glory. Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a competitive total of 183 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. However, Chennai Super Kings encountered little opposition during the chase. CSK’s opening pair, comprising Dwayne Smith (62) and Brendon McCullum (46), stitched together a century partnership in just 41 deliveries. Their destructive partnership made light work of the chase for Chennai Super Kings.

  1. 7 overs – SRH vs MI, Hyderabad, 2024

Batting first at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad showed no mercy to the Mumbai Indians bowlers as they amassed a quickfire 100 runs in just seven overs in the recently concluded eighth match of IPL 2024.

The top three batsmen equally contributed to the destruction, scoring runs at a rapid pace. Mayank Agarwal chipped in with 11 runs, while Travis Head blazed his way to 62 runs from just 24 balls, setting a solid platform. Coming in at No. 3, Abhishek Sharma also inflicted damage on the opposition, surpassing 100 runs in just 42 deliveries.

SRH finished their innings with their highest ever total scored in the 17-year IPL history. They notched a massive 277-run total in 20 overs.
