List of players to have hit a six off the first ball of their IPL career ft. Sameer Rizvi: Sameer Rizvi made his IPL debut in the season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2014. However, he didn’t get a chance to showcase his batting skills in the first match. His opportunity came during the second game against the Gujarat Titans. Rizvi hit a six off the first ball he faced from Rashid Khan.

There have been only nine players who have hit the first ball in IPL career for a six. Rizvi was only the third Indian player to achieve this feat. Here is the complete list.

1. Rob Quiney

The Australian batter made his IPL debut on April 23, 2009, for Rajasthan Royals against the Kolkata Knight Riders and became the first batter to hit the first ball in IPL career for a six. Quiney came out to bat in the third over and hit a six off the first delivery by Ishant Sharma. He was dismissed on the very next delivery.

2. Kevon Cooper

Kevon Cooper made his IPL debut on April 6, 2012, with Rajasthan Royals against Punjab Kings (fka Kings XI Punjab). Cooper was out to bat in the 20th over and hit a six off the first delivery he faced from James Faulkner.

3. Andre Russell

Andre Russell made his IPL debut on May 10, 2012, when he was a part of the Delhi Capitals (fka Delhi Daredevils) squad. Russell didn’t get a chance to bat in his debut game against Deccan Chargers. In his second game, Russell batted in the seventh position and faced Zaheer Khan. He hit a six over Khan’s head on his first delivery and was dismissed after scoring 31 runs off 15 deliveries. Russell hit a total of three sixes during his innings.

4. Carlos Brathwaite

Brathwaite became a household name in India after he hit four sixes off Ben Stokes in the final of the T20 World Cup 2016. He made his IPL debut seven days later, on April 10, with Delhi Capitals against Kolkata Knight Riders. Brathwaite faced Piyush Chawla on his debut and hit his first ball in IPL career for a six. Chawal dismissed Brathwaite three deliveries later in the same over.

5. Aniket Choudhary

Anikest Choudhary made his IPL debut with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener in 2017 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Choudhary faced Ben Cutting on his debut and hit a six over the fine leg. He was dismissed on the very next delivery, and RCB were bundled out for 172 runs. Choudhary became the first Indian player to hit the first ball in IPL career for a six.

6. Javon Searles

Javon Searles made his IPL debut on May 12, 2018, with Kolkata Knight Riders against Punjab Kings. Searles faced Barinder Sran on his debut, hit a six off the very first ball, and remained unbeaten.

7. Siddesh Lad

Siddhesh Lad opened the innings for Mumbai Indians along with Quinton de Kock on his debut against Punjab Kings on April 10, 2019. Lad faced Ankit Rajpoot on his debut and hit a six and four on his first two deliveries. He scored 15 runs off 13 deliveries before getting dismissed in the fourth over. This was Lad’s first and only appearance in IPL.

8. Mahesh Theekshana

Mahesh Theekshana made his IPL debut in 2022, and he had to wait for seven matches to make his batting debut. Theekshana faced his first delivery against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 4, 2022. He hit a six over long-on on the first delivery that he faced from Harshal Patel.

9. Sameer Rizvi

Rizvi made his IPL debut on March 26, 2024, against Gujarat Titans in the 7th match of the season. He was promoted in the batting order and batted ahead of Ravindra Jadeja. Rizvi faced Rashid Khan on his batting debut and hit a six of the very first delivery. He hit two sixes off Rashid and was dismissed after scoring 14 runs off six deliveries.
