Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill help India continue their winning streak against Pakistan

India faced Pakistan in the fifth match of the Champions Trophy 2025 and won the same by six wickets. Men in Blue chased down the target of 242 runs in 42.3 overs with six wickets in hand. Virat Kohli scored his 51st century in ODIs in this match.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. The team lost their first two wickets for just 47 runs in 9.2 overs. The duo of Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan added 104 runs for the third wicket. Rizwan was dismissed in the 34th over and Shakeel in the 35th over.

Rizwan made 46 runs off 77 deliveries, while Shakeel scored 62 runs off 76 deliveries. Khushdil Shah provided the finishing touch to the team and helped the team cross the 240-run mark. Pakistan were bundled out for 241 runs in 49.4 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India and took three wickets for 40 runs in nine overs. Hardik Pandya dismissed two Pakistani batters, while Harshit Rana, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

Virat Kohli’s century helped India record second win in the Champions Trophy

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings for India. The duo added 31 runs for the first wicket before Rohit was dismissed after scoring 20 runs off 15 deliveries. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were in the middle after Rohit was dismissed.

Gill, the number one ODI batter, has been in fine form in the 50-over format. He has scored two centuries and two half-centuries in his last five outings. In this match, Gill scored 46 runs off 52 deliveries. He hit seven fours in this innings.

After Gill was dismissed in the 18th over, Shreyas Iyer was in the middle. Iyer and Kohli added 114 runs for the third wicket. Iyer made a slow start to his innings and picked the pace at the right time. He hit five fours and one six during his innings of 56 runs off 67 deliveries.

Kohli hit a boundary off the third delivery of the 43rd over to finish the match for the team. The boundary helped Kohli reach his 51st ODI century. Kohli remained unbeaten on 100 runs off 111 deliveries. He also managed to cross the 14,000-run mark and became the fastest to reach this milestone. Kohli won the Player of the Match award.
