Tamim Iqbal Rushed to Hospital Following Chest Pain – Former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal was taken to the hospital on Monday during a game in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. He was representing Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club at the BKSP ground in Savar.
The accident occurred during Tamim’s fielding in the first innings of the 50-over match. He experienced chest pain and was forced to leave the ground. As per a report from ESPNcricinfo, initially, a helicopter was booked to transport him to the hospital. But it was not possible to fly the helicopter from the ground. Later, he was transported to Fazilatunnesa Hospital by road.

Tamim Iqbal announced retirement from international cricket
Tamim retired from international cricket during January this year. He announced the news ahead of the team’s departure for the Champions Trophy 2025. The veteran Bangladesh batter had played a long inning for the side. He played his first One-Day International (ODI) match in 2007 against Zimbabwe at Harare.
Tamim played 243 ODIs, 70 Test matches, and 78 T20 internationals (T20Is) in his career. He scored more than 15,000 runs in all three formats. He has 25 international centuries to his name, the most for any Bangladesh cricketer.

He also stated that he did not wish to be a distraction prior to the Champions Trophy. “A major tournament like the Champions Trophy is around the corner. I do not want to be the center of anyone’s attention, which might cause the team to lose their concentration,” he posted.
Tamim justified his retirement in a social media update. He wrote, “I have been out of international cricket for a long period. That gap will continue to exist. My international cricket chapter has come to an end.”
Cricket officials and fans await news of Tamim’s health. Mohammedan Sporting Club and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are yet to release an official announcement.
