Shubman Gill has been appointed the vice-captain of India’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. He is likely to lead India against New Zealand in case Rohit Sharma is not fit to play. If that happens, Gill will make his captaincy debut for India in ODIs.

Conclusion
Gill has not played a lot of matches in Dubai since making his ODI debut in 2019. He has been a regular in the Indian side since 2022.
