Riyan Parag appointed Captain of Rajasthan Royals for First Three IPL 2025 match: Riyan Parag has expressed his feelings about being appointed Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) stand-in captain. He will be captain of the side in their initial three games of IPL 2025 since regular skipper Sanju Samson is still not available.
Sanju Samson recently had surgery on his fingers and has yet to be given permission to keep wickets by the Centre of Excellence. Due to this, the RR management has given the captaincy for the first set of games to Parag. Samson will not be fielding or keeping wickets during this time.

Parag accepted the challenge of fulfilling the responsibility of replacing Samson, and is willing to give it a shot. In an Instagram post–
Riyan Parag wrote, “Big shoes to fill in for the first few games as a leader. Up for this challenge – for @imsanjusamson for @rajasthanroyals.”

Sanju Samson Backs Riyan Parag as Captain
Sanju Samson has opined that Parag is capable of leading the team for the first three matches. Samson feels Parag can undertake the captaincy.
The RR management also confirmed that Samson will play entirely as a batter in these next three matches. He is supposed to be treated as an impact player.

In a video uploaded by RR on X, Samson said, “I am not fully fit for the next three games. We have had several leaders in this team over the years who have managed things well. For these matches, Riyan will take over as captain. He is more than capable of handling the role. I expect everyone to support him.”
Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL 2025 journey against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). The match is scheduled to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, March 23.
