India Meteorological Department (IMD) has made an orange alert for Kolkata and surrounding districts. The weather situation is unstable as a result of a trough extending from Odisha to Vidarbha and a wind confluence over the eastern part of India. There is an anticyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal also influencing the region.

Due to this, light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are predicted in some regions of West Bengal, such as Kolkata. The adverse weather may persist between March 20 and March 22.

IMD in Kolkata has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds on match day. The temperature will be between 22°C and 29°C. Extremely high humidity levels of approximately 65% can also affect pitch conditions.

• Morning (6 AM – 12 PM IST): Cloudy with light showers. Rain chances are at a peak of 66% at 11 AM, which can impact ground preparations.
• Afternoon (12 PM – 6 PM IST): Cloudy with occasional sunshine. Rain probabilities fall to about 25%, giving some respite for the match.
• Evening (6 PM – 11 PM IST): The toss is scheduled at 7 PM IST, and the match at 7:30 PM IST. At first, rain possibilities are low (10%). But by 11 PM IST, rain possibility increases to 70%, which might cause disruptions.
