Ravichandran Ashwin Reveals Why He Delayed Retirement, Thanks MS Dhoni for CSK Return: Ravichandran Ashwin has retired from international cricket after playing 106 Test matches. The veteran off-spinner ended his career during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, he originally planned to retire earlier.

Ashwin wanted to retire after his 100th Test, which was in Dharamsala during Englandโs tour of India. He even invited MS Dhoni to be there and hand him a special memento. But Dhoni could not attend the match.
‘I called MS Dhoni for my 100th Test in Dharamshala to hand over the memento. I wanted to make that my last Test. But he couldnโt make it. However, I didnโt think he would give me the gift of getting me back toย CSK. Itโs a much better one. So, thank you, MS, for doing it. Iโm glad to be here,โ – Ravichandran Ashwinย
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized a ceremony for Ashwinโs milestone. He received a memento from the BCCI, but he wished MS Dhoni was the one to hand it over. Speaking at a book launch event in Chennai, Ashwin revealed that though his wish was unfulfilled, he got an even bigger surprise later.

R Ashwin first team in IPL – CSK
Ashwin started his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2008 and played until 2015. After that, he played for Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals. Now, nearly a decade later, he is back with CSK.
โI have come back to CSK not as someone who has achieved a lot, but as someone who has come full circle. I just want to enjoy playing here, just like before. This is a wonderful place to be,โ he added.
