In the earlier seasons, consecutive slow over-rates led to captains being suspended. But now, before the IPL 2025, regulations were altered. Captains no longer will have match suspensions. They will be given money fines and demerit points. These demerit points will be followed for three years.
Parag is the second IPL 2025 captain to be fined for a slow over-rate. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya had been fined earlier after a match against Gujarat Titans. The captains’ meeting in Mumbai on March 20 resolved to lift suspensions.
RR Secures First Win of the Season
In spite of the punishment, Rajasthan Royals played a good game against CSK. They won their first IPL 2025 match with a nail-biting six-run win.
Nitish Rana was the match-winner with his 81 from a mere 36 deliveries. His destructive batting helped RR reach a total of 182/8. Wanindu Hasaranga was the star among the bowlers as he picked four wickets to restrict CSK.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad played a good innings with a half-century. Ravindra Jadeja’s mini cameo provided CSK with hope. Sandeep Sharma, though, bowled a great last over for RR. He dismissed MS Dhoni and restricted CSK at 176/6.
In spite of CSK’s fight towards the end, Parag and his men kept their cool. RR’s bowlers implemented their strategies to perfection for their first win of the season.
