Leading a cricket team is a big responsibility, and India has seen many successful captains. However, the most successful among them is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is not only regarded as a legendary figure in cricket in India but also across the world.
MS Dhoni’s legacy is not just about his match-winning performances but also about his leadership. He remains the only Indian captain to have won three ICC trophies, the T20 World Cup 2007, the ODI World Cup 2011, and the Champions Trophy 2013. Although the wicket keeper retired from international cricket six years ago, he continues to be an important figure in franchise cricket. This season, MS Dhoni will represent Chennai Super Kings for the 16th time in the Indian Premier League.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega auction, there was a lot of speculation about Dhoni’s future in the game. However, the former Indian captain made his participation clear as CSK retained him as an uncapped player.

‘I want to play with the same kind of innocence’ – MS Dhoni
Speaking during the launch of his app powered by Single.id, Dhoni reflected on enjoying cricket for some more time and that he wants to play the game with the same joy and innocence like he did as a child.
“I’ve retired since 2019, so it will be quite some time. What I’ve been doing in the meantime is I just want to enjoy cricket for the last few years, you know, I will be able to play. I want to enjoy it, how I did as a child when I was in school. When I lived in a colony, 4 o’clock (in the afternoon) was sports time, so we’d go and play cricket more often than not. But if the weather didn’t permit, we used to play football. I want to play with the same kind of innocence… (but it is) easier said than done”, Dhoni said.

Further, the veteran batter also discussed his approach to cricket and the importance of young players having the right priorities.
“For me as a cricketer, I always wanted to perform for the Indian cricket team because I’ve said that in the past also, that not everybody gets a chance to represent the country. For us as cricketers, whenever we went on to the big stage or whenever we were touring, there was a chance for us to win laurels for the country. So for me, it was the country that always came first”, MS added.
As MS Dhoni gears up for another IPL season with CSK, fans will be thrilled to see their favourite player play in his popular style once again.
