Mohammed Siraj Responds to 2025 Champions Trophy Snub: Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has expressed his views on being left out of the 2025 Champions Trophy team. The selectors chose Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana as India’s frontline pacers for the tournament.
Siraj was also not part of the three-match ODI series against England prior to the Champions Trophy. His previous ODI game for India was in July 2024 against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Mind the Performance, Not the Selection: Siraj
Getting ready to take the field for IPL 2025, Siraj was questioned regarding his absence from the Champions Trophy team. In conversation with The Indian Express, the 31-year-old mentioned that he does not wish to worry about selection.

“Selection is not with me. I have only a cricket ball in my hand, and I want to do as much as I can with that. I do not want to burden myself worrying about selection. My thing is my performance,” Siraj said.

The pacer opined that future tournaments such as the England tour and the Asia Cup are on his mind. Nevertheless, he went ahead and explained that his priority at the moment is IPL 2025.
“Being a player, you never think of a big tournament. But today, I do not want to think too much. My concentration is on IPL and playing well for Gujarat Titans. I would love to assist them in winning yet another IPL trophy,” he continued.
Mohammed Siraj Increasing Fitness and Bowling
Siraj played for India in January 2025 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His last competitive game was in the Ranji Trophy, where he played for Hyderabad against Vidarbha on January 30.
He has since been working on his fitness and bowling.
“We do not get much rest normally, but I used this time to improve my fitness and skills. I worked on my slower balls, yorkers, and bowling with the old as well as the new ball,” he disclosed.
Siraj will likely spearhead Gujarat Titans’ pace attack along with Kagiso Rabada. A good IPL season may see him back in India’s T20 team for the Asia Cup.
