Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has made history by becoming the fastest Indian to take 200 wickets in the One Day Internationals (ODIs). He reached this milestone in just 104 matches, making him the second-fastest bowler in ODI history to achieve this feat.
Currently, the record for the fastest to 200 wickets in ODIs is held by Australia’s Mitchell Starc, who achieved the feat in 102 matches.
Notably, Mohammed Shami achieved this milestone during India’s first match of the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. He took his 200th wicket by dismissing Jaker Ali in the 43rd over of the game. Shami bowled a delivery outside the off-stump, forcing Jaker to go for a big shot, which he misjudged as Virat Kohli at the long-on took a safe catch.
