Sri Lanka attacking wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis has recently smashed his fifth one-day International century during the second ODI match against Australia at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably the century also marks to be Kusal Mendis’ first against Australia in the one-day International format.
Opting to bat first, the Sri Lankan batters entered the field with a mission to put a huge total on the board as they aim to sweep the series by 2-0.
Using their opening batter Pathum Nissanka at a low score of 6, Mendis entered the field and began his onslaught. The wicket keeper achieved his century within 113 deliveries at a strike rate of 87.83 as his knock was laced with 11 boundaries.

Kusal Mendis Smashes Maiden ODI Century against Australia
Soon after smashing his fifth one-day international century, Mendis lost his wicket at the score of 101 as he got caught by Adam Zampa.
Later, skipper Charith Asalanka anchored the innings with his fiery knock of 78 off 66 balls at a strike rate of 118.18 to lead Sri Lanka to a high total of 281 runs at the end of 50 overs.
The lethal Australian bowling unit failed to get answers against Sri Lanka’s dominance at home as they managed to pick only four wickets.
The Australian batters will now have to chase 282 runs in 50 hours to conclude the series in a draw. The Lanka Lions are currently on a winning streak of 11 ODIs where seven of their wins have come on their home soil.
