Jasprit Bumrah not available Mumbai Indians First Few Matches: India and Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He is there to check his fitness before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
According to Cricbuzz, the 31-year-old wants clearance on whether he can play the full tournament or only a few matches.
Bumrah last played in the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Sydney
During his first visit to the NCA, he felt pain while bowling. The NCA suggested some exercises and asked him to return later. Now, he will bowl again to see if he is fully fit. Reports suggest that there is some hope for his recovery.

If Bumrah feels no pain or discomfort, he will get clearance to play. However, it may take another week before he is ready. This means he is likely to miss Mumbai Indians’ first few games in the tournament.
‘He is in good spirits’ – Mahela Jayawardene
Mumbai Indians’ head coach Mahela Jayawardene spoke about Bumrah’s absence in a press conference on March 19. The former Sri Lankan captain said that Bumrah’s absence is a big loss but hopes he will return soon.
Jayawardene said, “He has just started the recovery process. We have to wait and see what the feedback is. Right now, everything is going well, but his progress is checked daily. He is in good spirits, and we hope he can join the team soon. Not having him is a challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world and has been a key player for us for many years.”
Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar to open bowling for MI
With Bumrah unavailable, Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar are likely to open the bowling for Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians will play their first match on March 23 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
