IND vs ENG 2nd ODI: England Sets 305 Runs Target in Cuttack; Can India Whip the ODI series with 2-0?

IND vs ENG: The Indian cricket team is all set to chase 305 runs as the English team posted a decent target on the board in 49.5 overs. While the initial overs of the first power play completely went into England’s favour as they dominated the hosts, team India managed their first breakthrough in the 11th over, courtesy to their young debutant Varun Chakravarthy.

The building partnership between Root and Duckett was soon broken by India’s ace spinner Ravindra Jadeja in the 16th over as he dismissed the latter at 65. Joe Root and Harry Brook continued their onslaught before the latter fell prey to Harshit Rana in the 30th over at 31.

Joe Root and Ben Duckett Bring up Half Century in IND vs ENG 2nd ODI

Following a couple of boundaries and singles, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja striked to help India dismiss Jos Buttler and Joe Root in the 39th and 43rd over respectively.

The last five overs of the first innings of the second ODI between India and England was nothing short of a thriller as the English smashed boundaries and maximum hits despite losing 3 wickets.

Speaking in the mid innings break, the English opening batter Ben Duckett reflected on the team’s batting performance.

Ben stated, “I felt like it was a pretty good start. Even in the start and in the end, the ball was keeping low. It will be interesting to see what effect the dew has in the second innings. It’s great, most of the time I feel he is the one who is going to take us off to a flier and I will play second fiddle. He was smart today and gave me more of the strike as  I was timing the ball well. 300 is a decent total, as I said, hopefully the pitch gets worse and it works in our favour.”
