Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill added 78 runs for the first wicket for GT. Gill was dismissed after scoring 38 runs off 27 deliveries in the ninth over. Jos Buttler joined Sudharsan in the middle and played a knock of 39 runs off 24 deliveries.
No other batter managed to cross the 20-run mark for GT. Sudharsan scored 63 runs off 41 deliveries and helped GT post a total of 196 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya was the pick of the bowlers for MI and picked two wickets for 29 runs in four overs.

MI lost two wickets in the power play and scored 48 runs in the first six overs. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav had a partnership of 62 runs for the third wicket. Tilak made 39 runs off 36 deliveries. MI lost the wicket of Robin Minz after Tilak’s dismissal. Suryakumar was dismissed in the 16th over and made 48 runs off 28 deliveries.
MI failed to chase down the target and scored 160 runs for the loss of six wickets. GT won the match by 36 runs. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked two wickets each for GT.

GT’s bowlers played according to the script and their spells were the reason GT could cross the line here. Prasidh Krishna came out to bowl the 11th over of the game and took the wicket of Tilak Varma. Tilak and Suryakumar Yadav were taking the game away from GT’s holds. However, Tilak’s wicket meant GT was back in the game and they didn’t lost the plot from that point.
