GG-W vs MI-W Match Review, Top Performers, Match 6 of WPL 2025 ft Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Hayley Matthews

Gujarat Giants Women (GG-W) took on Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W) in the sixth match of the Women’s Premier League 2025 on Tuesday, February 18, at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. MI-W won the match by five wickets after chasing down the target of 121 runs in 16.1 overs.

MI-W registered their first win of the season in this game and jumped to second place in the points tally. GG-W have now lost two out of three matches and are in third position.

Gujarat Giants Women suffered a terrible start to their innings

The Giants didn’t have a decent start to their innings. They managed just 28 runs in the Power Play and lost four wickets in the process. The team lost three more wickets before crossing the 100-run mark. Only four batters managed to make a double-digit score for the team.

Harleen Deol emerged as the highest-scorer for the Gujarat Giants Women

Harleen was the only batter who scored more than 30 runs for the team. Her knock of 32 runs off 31 balls was the reason the Giants were able to pile up a total of 120 runs on the board. Kashvee Gautam also had a decent outing with the bat and her 20 runs off 15 deliveries was the second-highest individual score for the Giants. She was one of the two batters who hit a six in the game for the Giants. 

Hayley Matthews led the bowling attack of Mumbai Indians Women

West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews had a terrific outing with the ball for MI-W. She took three wickets for just 16 runs and was the pick of the bowlers for the team. She took the wicket of Kashvee as well.

Nat-Sciver Brunt and Amelia Kerr were also the best performers with the ball for MI-W. Both the bowlers took two wickets each for MI-W.

Nat Sciver-Brunt took Mumbai Indians Women home after a slow start

MI-W had a slow start to their innings and could score only 37 runs for the loss of one wicket in the Power Play. Matthews couldn’t replicate her performance with the ball and was dismissed after scoring 17 runs off 19 deliveries.

The team managed to cross the 100-run mark in the 14th over and had lost three wickets by then. Sciver-Brunt remained in the middle and managed to clear the ropes more often than other batters. She hit 11 fours during her stay at the crease as she scored 57 runs off 39 deliveries.

Nat Sciver-Brunt (MI-W)

  • Played a knock of 57 runs off 39 deliveries and hit 11 fours in her innings.
  • Became only the fourth batter to score more than 600 runs in the WPL.
  • Jumped to second place in the list of batters with the most runs.

Harleen Deol (GG-W)

  • She was the highest run-scorer for the Giants in the match and made 32 runs off 31 deliveries.
  • Became the second-highest run-scorer for the Giants this season.

Best Bowling Peformance in GG-W vs MI-W, Match 6 of Women’s Premier League 2025

Hayley Matthews (MI-W)

  • Won the Player of the Match award for her bowling performance.
  • Took three wickets for 16 runs in four overs.
  • Became the second-highest wicket-taker in WPL.

Kashvee Gautam (GG-W)

  • Was the pick of the bowlers for the Giants.
  • Picked up two wickets for just 15 runs in three overs.
