Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings for LSG and added 46 runs for the first wicket in 4.4 overs. Markram was dismissed after scoring 15 runs off 13 deliveries. Nicholas Pooran joined Marsh in the middle and the duo started a carnage. They had a partnership of 87 runs for the second wicket. Marsh scored 72 runs off 36 deliveries, while Pooran made 75 runs off 30 deliveries.
David Miller remained unbeaten on 27 runs off 19 deliveries. No other batter managed to make a double-digit score for LSG. The team finished with 209 runs for the loss of eight wickets on the board. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets for 42 runs in four overs.
Second Innings: Ashutosh Sharma’s finishing skills helped DC win their opening game
DC lost their first three wickets for just seven runs. They lost two more wickets when the scorecard read 65 runs. The lower middle-order came to the rescue for the team. Skipper Axar Patel, along with Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, and Vipraj Nigam took the team home.
Ashutosh emerged as the hero for DC and remained unbeaten on 66 runs off 31 deliveries. He hit a six off the third delivery of the 20th over to seal the game for DC. DC won the match by one wicket.
Key Moments & Turning Points
The arrival of Vipraj Nigam and his partnership with Ashutosh changed the course of the match. Tristan Stubbs was dismissed in the 13th over after scoring 34 runs off 22 deliveries. He was the sixth player to depart and it looked like the match was over.
Nigam joined Ashutosh in the middle and suddenly another twist was added to the game. The duo collected 17 runs in the 14th over bowled by Ravi Bishnoi and 15 runs from the 15th over bowled by Shahbaz Ahmed. Prince Yadav came to bowl the 16th over of the game and gave away 20 runs.
Vipraj was dismissed on the first delivery of the 17th over but Ashutosh Sharma kept hitting the ball across the park. Ashutosh’s grit helped DC maintain their winning streak against LSG that started with two wins last season.
