Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 17th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Saturday, April 5, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

First Innings: KL Rahul led DC to their highest total in Chepauk

KL Rahul opened the innings with Jake Fraser-McGurk in the absence of Faf du Plessis. Fraser-McGurk was dismissed for a duck on the fifth delivery of the innings. Rahul remained in the middle till the 20th over and scored 77 runs off 51 deliveries. Abishek Porel made 33 runs off 20 deliveries.

No other batter managed to cross the 25-run mark for DC and the team finished with 183 runs for the loss of six wickets. Khaleel Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers and took two wickets for 25 runs in four overs.

Second Innings: DC’s bowlers restricted CSK to 158 runs

CSK tried a new opening pair of Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway, but it yielded no different result. The team lost three wickets in the power play and managed just 46 runs in the first six overs. Vijay Shankar remained unbeaten on 69 runs but took 54 deliveries to reach the mark.

CSK finished with 158 runs for the loss of five wickets on the board and lost the match by 25 runs. Vipraj Nigam was the most successful bowler for DC and took two wickets for 27 runs in four overs.

CSK were miserable in the middle overs. After scoring 46 runs in the power play, the batters managed to score just 60 runs in the next nine overs. In the last five overs, CSK made 52 runs.
