The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced several new regulations for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. One of the key changes is restricting access to the dressing room, with family members of players and support staff no longer allowed, even on practice days. The aim is to maintain discipline and streamline matchday procedures.
The new rules were officially communicated to all IPL franchises and team managers during a virtual meeting on February 18. Additionally, players must now travel via the team bus for matches and practice sessions to ensure logistical coordination.
Strict Rules for Dressing Room Access in IPL 2025
The BCCI has always emphasized professionalism in the IPL. However, concerns over dressing room access and discipline have led to stricter measures. The board issued an email to all franchises outlining these changes, which also cover matchday attire, fitness tests, and practice schedules.

These regulations are similar to those followed by the Indian team during international matches. According to the BCCI’s email:
“On practice days (during pre-tournament & tournament), only accredited staff is allowed in the dressing room and on the field of play. Player family members and friends may travel in a different vehicle and can watch team practice from the hospitality area. For extended support staff (throwdown specialists/net bowlers), a list needs to be submitted for approval to the BCCI. Once approved, non-match day accreditations will be issued for the same,” the mail read, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
New Attire and Fitness Regulations in IPL 2025
The BCCI has also made changes regarding fitness tests and player attire. Fitness assessments can no longer take place on the main square on matchdays, as team physios often used this practice to check players’ fitness before a game.

Additionally, players must now wear the IPL’s signature Orange Cap and Purple Cap for at least two overs during matches and at post-match presentations. Players are also banned from wearing sleeveless jerseys during presentations, with financial penalties for repeated violations.
Practice Rules and Restrictions
Teams will be assigned two nets in the practice area and one side wicket for range hitting. Open nets will not be allowed, and teams cannot extend their practice time even if another team finishes early. Players and support staff are also prohibited from sitting in front of LED boards.
With these new regulations, the BCCI aims to maintain discipline, ensure smooth operations, and uphold the professionalism of the IPL.
