New Zealand, on the other hand, faced an unfortunate exit from the tournament. Despite being finalists in the T20 World Cup 2021, the team struggled to find their footing in the current competition. Their campaign began with a heavy defeat against Afghanistan, losing by 84 runs.

This was followed by a close match against the West Indies, where they were defeated by a narrow margin of 13 runs. These losses left New Zealand with zero points from their first two matches, effectively knocking them out of contention for the Super-8 round.
