A total of 72 players were sold in the IPL 2024 auction, which took place on Tuesday, December 19, at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. Kolkata Knight Riders spent the highest amount of money in the auction. They spent a total of INR 31.35 crore to pick a total of 10 players in the auction.
Knight Riders also picked the most number of players in the auction. They spent INR 24.75 crore to pick Mitchell Starc, making him the most expensive player in the IPL auction’s history. Out of the 72 players who were sold in the auction, 42 players were from India.

3. Shahrukh Khan (INR 7.40 crore)
Shahrukh Khan was picked by the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 auction for a whopping sum of INR 7.4 crore. Titans fought a hard battle against the Punjab Kings to have the services of Shahrukh.
Shahrukh made his IPL debut with the Kings in 2021 when he was picked for a price of INR 5.25 crore. The Kings decided to leave Shahrukh from the squad in 2022 and paid a sum of INR 9 crore to have him back. They decided to repeat the same strategy this year but couldn’t repeat their trick.
2. Sameer Rizvi (INR 8.40 crore)
Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals fought a hard battle against each other to pick Sameer Rizvi in their squad. Ultimately, Super Kings outbid them all and picked Rizvi for a price of INR 8.4 crore.
Rizvi, the 20-year-old batter from UP, was the leading run-scorer for his state in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. He scored 277 runs in seven matches at an average of 69.25 and a strike rate of 139.89. Rizvi was the third-highest run-scorer in the Uttar Pradesh T20 2023 and scored the fastest century in the tournament.

1. Harshal Patel (INR 11.75 crore)
Punjab Kings picked Harshal Patel for a price of INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. They had to challenge and outbid Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants to have Harshal in the squad.
Harshal was the leading wicket-taker for Haryana in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 19 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 20.47. He has experience of playing in 91 IPL matches and has taken 111 wickets at an average of 24.07. The Kings will be Harshal’s third franchise in IPL after Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals (fka Delhi Daredevils).
