Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh provided a solid start to LSG. The duo added 99 runs for the first wicket before Markram was dismissed for 47 runs off 28 deliveries. Nicholas Pooran joined Marsh in the middle and the duo had a partnership of 71 runs for the second wicket.
Marsh made 81 runs off 48 deliveries before he was dismissed in the 16th over. Pooran remained unbeaten on 87 runs off 36 deliveries and led LSG to a total of 238 runs for the loss of three wickets. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers for KKR and took two wickets for 51 runs.
Second Innings: KKR failed in the chase by a close margin
KKR lost the wicket of Quinton de Kock in the third over for just 37 runs. Sunil Narine and Ajinkya Rahane had a partnership of 54 runs for the second wicket. KKR had scored 90 runs in the powerplay; their second-highest total in this phase of the game. Narine scored 30 runs off 13 deliveries before getting dismissed on the second delivery of the seventh over.
KKR scored 129 runs for the loss of two wickets at the end of the 10th over mark and required 110 runs to win in the final 10 overs. Shardul Thakur bowled the 13th over of the innings and gave away 13 runs. He took the important wicket of Ajinkya Rahane.
