BCCI’s Update on Bumrah’s Recovery | Jasprit Bumrah Misses MI’s IPL 2025 first match Against CSK

Jasprit Bumrah Misses MI’s IPL 2025 first match Against CSK: Jasprit Bumrah was missing from the Mumbai Indians (MI) playing XI in their first match of IPL 2025. MI faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, while the Indian pacer is still recovering from a stress-related back injury.

Bumrah has been out of action since January. He got injured on the second day of the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test. Because of this, he also missed India’s Champions Trophy campaign. This is his first back injury since his surgery in March 2023.

BCCI’s Update on Bumrah’s Recovery

When Ajit Agarkar announced India’s Champions Trophy squad in January, he gave an update on Bumrah. He said that the BCCI medical team advised the pacer to take at least five weeks off. This was necessary for his recovery.

MI Coach on Bumrah’s Comeback

After MI’s loss to CSK, assistant coach Paras Mhambrey was asked about Bumrah’s return. He said, “He is doing well. Whatever information we got from the NCA, we are happy with his progress.”

However, he did not give a clear timeline for Bumrah’s comeback. “I won’t dwell into the time frame right now. I would leave it to the upper management team, who are coordinating with the NCA guys,” he added.

Mhambrey also said that MI wants Bumrah back as soon as possible. “He is a big part of Mumbai Indians. He has been a success for many years. We are happy with the progress, and we will see how it goes.”

MI Struggles Without Bumrah

Before the match, many fans and experts believed MI would struggle without Bumrah. Their concerns were right as CSK easily defeated MI in the game.

Chasing 156 runs, CSK reached 158/6 in 19.1 overs. Rachin Ravindra scored an unbeaten 65*, while Ruturaj Gaikwad added 53.

Bumrah’s IPL Record

Bumrah has played 133 matches in the IPL. He has taken 165 wickets at an average of 22.51 and an economy rate of 7.30. He is MI’s second-highest wicket-taker, behind Lasith Malinga.

His IPL record also includes two five-wicket hauls and multiple four-wicket hauls. MI fans hope he will return soon to strengthen their bowling attack.
